I have spent a great deal of time on the Noah's Website. I wanted to learn about the company that I would be doing this internship for. I knew what they did, but I wasn't sure on how they did everything. Become an event coordinator.

An event coordinator puts together events, from the idea for the event to the full execution of the event, including planning, scheduling and guest lists. Coordinators may work such events as weddings, concerts or industry trade shows. There is no specific educational or professional route that is required for a career as an event coordinator.

So... I got the internship!! Woo! I am running the social media for Noah's event center!! After my three month internship, I will have a job at Noah's assisting the team in planning the events at the Noah's in Pleasant Grove and in South Jordan. I am so excited! My first meeting is on Monday. :) This is going to open up a world of event planning for me. I have 90% of my experience in wedding and I cannot wait to get opened up to a whole new world!

I know that I said I would post pictures, but I am waiting for my sister in law to give me the pictures so I can scan them in. She said she would bring them to dinner tomorrow, so tomorrow I will get them up and running.

Researching more into event planning companies

I've spent a lot of time looking at Modern Design's website. The more and more I look around, the better I like everything about it. They not only have a store where you can buy things, but they have event coordinators and supplies to the extreme! I emailed them to ask for an internship there or any sort of job to get my feet wet. I am waiting to hear back from them.

As far as a portfolio goes, I have kind of already started one. A while back, I helped coordinate my brother's wedding. We had the reception in our old backyard and we had to spice everything up back there. I will post pictures of the party so everyone can see how it turned out.

With each passing event we are adamant about protecting the quality of the environment as well as the quality of our products. We ensure that each customer will have equal access to every resource we carry.

I applied and interviewed for an awesome internship (which i wont tell who or what because its mine! no one can steal it...) It is in a business that hosts events and parties. I am so overly excited about this!! I hope I get it! :)

I have heard from a lot of people that event planning isn't all its choked up to be, which I am okay with, I understand it. Honestly I love having a to-do list. I know the life of an event planner will be crazy busy and hectic, but I am ready for it.

This week I decided to work on a mission statement. Here's what I got so far:

Why:

I have always had a passion for planning and decorating. When I was young I moved houses quite a few times in my life and I enjoyed starting with a blank canvas in my room. There were endless possibilities and I could do what ever I wanted. I am a big people person and I enjoy challenges. After being a wedding consultant for so long I have really began to have a fierce passion for event planning.

This is what I started with. Now I need to work on a draft of my statement and then work on a vision statement.

Revised Thesis

I started working more on obtaining a vendors list and the kinds of things I would need to make this business work out. I talked with Spencer (in class) about his photography business and he is on the list. I know that I am going to need more than one photographer because of the different styles and availability. I got another friend on mine named Afton Huntly, who will be on the list. With the many different people that I would be helping there may be a need for a photo booth.

Funny Face Photo Booth has a wide variety of options to offer. For now, I will stick with three options. I'm pretty sure I will still need more later. I want to make it so if these people do an event through me they get discounts with the different vendors that I have. Before I pick more I want to be sure I can get discounts with these photographers.

Senior Thesis

The idea that I had was to create a business plan for my own business. I have always enjoyed event planning; I am currently a bridal consultant at a bridal store. I have enjoyed that line of business and I think I could do really well as a wedding planner or just overall event planner. Drawing up a business plan for this would definitely take some time. I would need a vendors list, first thing. From there I can start rolling the ball. This is something that I would love to become more of an expert at.
